Framers finished out the master bedroom area walls today. Including closet and master bath walls. Some of the joints mainly the half lap joints in this area are not fitting well. Some of our joints sit 3/4” proud of the joining CLT. It is something we can correct by planing and sanding at finish. It’s a shame that not all of the joints are consistent. As some fit amazingly and some are not even close. Did a sanding experiment yesterday. Used my 8.5” drywall sander at 920rpm with 120 grit sandpaper. Worked amazingly well. A few quick passes over a very rough spot of the CLT and it was perfectly smooth and ready to accept finish. Also sourced a Ply wood we will use for the interior cladding and cabinetry. See picture. It is a perfect match to the CLT.
